Take adequate rest
. Fatigue takes over your body in hot weather so take adequate rest in short spells and more often.
Have pool party
. It is a perfect time to have a pool party. Have it late evening and cool yourself with friends over a number of interesting mocktails and salads.
Hats all the way
. Don't forget to carry your hat while going out in the sun. Broad rimmed hats not only provide shade but also save you from tan.
Keep the makeup light
. Do not wear heavy make-up on a hot day. The chemicals in the make-up make you sweat a lot. Wear light make-up if you have to and keep the cosmetics in a refrigerator. You will feel better while applying it.
Wear light jewellary
. Mettalic jewellery is a strict no-no in the heat. The metal gets heated quickly making you feeling hotter.
Wear the right shoes
. Wear the right kind of footware in summers. Although slip - ons or sandals are great, they tan your feet to no end. Wear proper shoes with socks to avoid direct heat or sunrays on your feet.
Shower and be cool
. Take a shower two to three timese in a day to beat the heat and stay refreshed.
Carry a bottle of energy drink
. When you sweat, you lose some amount of salt and minerals too. To restore the salt and minerals balance in the body, add glucose to water. Refrigerate it and carry it when you go out in the sun.
Cool as a cucumber
. Cucumbers are great coolers. Eat cucumbers which have a high content of water. Close your eyes and place roundels of cucumbers on them for a few minutes. It refreshes your eyes and makes you feel cool.
Park your car in shade
. Try to find a place in the shade so that whenyou drive it again, it isn't extremely hot inside the car.
Hill stations are calling you
. If possible, head to a hill-station nearby and soak in the cool breeze and scenic beauty.
Make your own frozen popsicles
. Make home made fruit ice popsicles. Just blend the fruits like grapes, melons, mangoes etc in a blender anf freeze them in popsicle moulds. It is a great way to beat the heat and is enjoyed by kids and adults alike.
Have green plants around you
. Have pots of green plants around you, water them twice a day. This keeps the room environment cool and soothing.
Eat at regular intervals
. Eating small meals at regular intervals keeps the body cool and fit. Include whole grain salads in your diet.

. Eating refrigerated fruits like grapes and water melons really refresh your body. Drinking cold watermelon juice by just blending it with ice is a great way to cool yourself.
. This is a perfect time to organize water activities for kids. Fill an inflated rubber pool with water and let the kids enjoy splashing water at each other. Make sure these are organized either early morning or late evening.

. This is a tip specifically for people living in tropical climate. Chillies contain a compond 'capsicin' which makes you perspire profusely and as the sweat evaporates, it will cool you down.
. Perspiration evaporates water from your body. It is essential to rehydrate it by replenishing it. Avoid having beverages that contain alcohol, caffeine, or lots of sugar, as they are all dehydrating. Have more of hydrating foods like watermelon or smoothies.

. Keep the lighting of the house soft. Go for Compact Flourescent Light bulbs - they reduce the heat and save electricity too.

. Take off your shoes as soon as you enter home. As the sweat on your feet will evaporate, it will cool the skin and the blood of your feet. The Blood vessels then whisk that blood to other parts of the body, so you get the sensation of coolness.
Keep doors and windows closed
. If the temperature outside is more than twenty five degrees celcius (most people start sweating at 26 degrees)even without the air conditioner,keeping the doors and windows closed would cool you off. Whenever the outside air is hotter than the inside air, opening a window invites heat to creep in.
. Fill a spray bottle with water and keep it in the refrigerator. When the going gets hot, give yourself a good squirt. As the water will evaporate, it will cool you off. Spray on your wrists first to keep you cool for a longer time.
. Put the air conditioner at lower power and stay cool if the fan is blowing over. As the air conditioner removes humidity from the air, the fan speed will help evaporate sweat and keep the heat away from your body. Fans make you cooler as they evaporate your sweat, so switch them off when you move out of the room.
. Wear synthetic fabrics like Coolmax and Nano-Tex... they're not just for athletes. Wear thin, light colored, and, most of all, loose cotton clothes. Cotton clothes allow air movement next to the skin and help with evaporation.
. By placing a bowl of ice in front of a fan you can enjoy the cool breeze. Tthe ice will melt and then the water will evaporate thereby cooling you off.
