Do speech and music affect hearing

Many people find it difficult to believe that listening to music can be a hazard to hearing. But theres little evidence that loud music, however harmonious, is actually safer than unpleasant noise that would measure the same on a sound level meter. Even those who argue that music is safer than other noises would agree that if it is loud enough, and repeated often enough, music can damage hearing.
