Reykjavik has the distinction of being the worlds northernmost capital and records the shortest hours of daylight during its sixmonthlong winter season. December 21 records the shortest sun sighting: only four hours seven minutes. The Aurora Borealis or Northern Lights however light up the citys skies during these months.
