Shanghai Maglev China

It is the first commercially operated high speed magnetic levitation line in the world and only the third Maglev line to be operated. The train line was designed to connect Shanghai Pudong International Airport and the outskirts of central Pudong where passengers could interchange to the Shanghai Metro to continue their trip to the city center.Europeans and Asians currently operate the fastest high speed trains in the world, regularly commuting on trains such as the Shanghai Maglev and Harmony CRH 380A. While these two currently hold all the records, other fast trains, such as the HEMU 400X, Zefiro 380 and Talgo Avril, are close contenders for the crown of worlds fastest trains. Railway technology.com lists the top ten fastest trains currently in service.Shanghai Maglev tops the list with its maximum operational speed of 430km/h and average speed of 251kmph. The Maglev started commercial operations in April 2004.It runs on the 30.5km Shanghai Maglev Line, which is the first commercially operated high speed magnetic levitation line, extending from Longyang Road Station of Metro Line 2 and ending at Shanghai Pudong International Airport.Shanghai Maglev is owned and operated by Shanghai Maglev Transportation Development Co. The train was constructed by a joint venture of Siemens and ThyssenKrupp.
The worlds first commercial high speed magnetically levitated train was implemented in Shanghai China in 2004. The line runs between Shanghais Pudong Airport and the Longyang Lu metro station. This amazing train runs at a top speed of 431 km per hour (270 MPH). The 30 km (18.75 mile) journey takes less than 8 minutes to complete. A one way ticket on the Maglev trains costs RMB 50 (USD $7.00), or RMB 40 ($6.00) for passengers holding proof of an airline ticket purchase.Chinese researchers at the Applied Superconductivity Laboratory of Southwest Jiaotong University claim their fast transportation concept based on magnetic levitation (Maglev) technology could potentially be three times faster than an airplane.Maglev technology was first proposed in the mid 20th century. Nowadays, the Shanghai Maglev Train can reach speeds of over 430 kilometers (260 miles) per hour and is the worlds fastest passenger carrying train.Decreasing the speed limitations imposed by air resistance on regular Maglev trains.Should the project be successful, the workable prototype will set the standard for the future evacuation tube transportation (ETT).
