Mercedes Benz S Class
October 17, 2014: Mercedes Benz has globally managed to sold 1,00,000 units of latest S Class, the W222. This is the first occasion in the model s history, when the sales has achieved this milestone during the first year of full availability. The automaker has recenlty introduced the S 500 PLUG IN HYBRID which carries a V8 engine with powerful electric motor. With V8 engine, the car churns a maximum power of 442hp and peak torque of 650 Nm and is capable to touch the 100kmph mark in mere 5.2 seconds. Even with such high performance, the saloon delivers a emission of 65 g CO2/km. While a few months back, the German manufacturer in India launched the S Class S 350 CDI at Rs 1.07 Crore (Ex Showroom, Pune). With this new luxurious saloon, the German manufacturer extended its S Class model lineup, as until now, the company only offered S Class in petrol (S 500). S 350 CDI houses 3.0 litre V6 engine that churns a maximum power output of 254bhp and peak torque of 620Nm.
Mercedes Benz S Class is probably the most luxurious vehicle built by the German automaker, which is doing quite well in terms of sales. The company had introduced the Mercedes Benz S Class S 500 L Launch Edition in the month of January with a V8, 4.7 litre petrol engine under the hood. It is capable of producing a mammoth power of 453bhp in combination with a peak torque of 700Nm. Now, the German automaker has introduced another trim to this model portfolio, which is christened as Mercedes Benz S Class S 350 CDI. This newest trim is powered by a sophisticated 3.0 litre, V6 diesel power plant that is capable of churning out 258bhp, while yielding 620Nm of mammoth torque. In terms of appearance both these variants look identical to each other, but the S 350 CDI trim has a slightly lesser wheelbase of 3035mm in comparison to the 3165mm of the S 500 L Launch Edition trim. However, most of the features are quite identical in both the variant. This model series is available with an option to customize the interior trims and upholstery as per the taste of customers. The car maker has made use of high quality designo leather upholstery that gives a luxurious finish inside the cabin. The best part about the interiors is its diamond pattern seating, which has contrast stitching and piping that emphasizes its exclusiveness. Both these variants have been blessed with panoramic sliding sunroof that has a large glazed area, which provides a bright and pleasant ambiance inside.
The German automaker is offering this luxury saloon with several innovative aspects like ambient lighting system, air balance package and THERMOTRONIC automatic air conditioning system. As far as seating is concerned, the S 500 L trim comes individual seats in both the front and rear cabin, which are electrically adjustable and also has memory along with climate function as well. However, the S 350 CDI trim is bestowed with five seating arrangement where its rear cabin can host at least three passengers. Another exciting feature of this model is the individual entertainment in the rear cabin with two 25.4CM displays featuring cordless headphones, which provides outstanding sound quality. One of the most innovative aspects of this series is its Assistance system that features a stereo camera that captures the objects and pedestrian passing in front of the vehicle and analyses the data using intelligent algorithms. This ultimately makes the driving safer and more relaxing, especially on city roads. This model series will be competing with the likes of Audi A8 L, BMW 7 series and Jaguar XJ in the luxury saloon series.
