Southern Lights near Australia and Antarctica
Auroras visible in southern hemisphere are called southern lights or aurora australis. It can be viewed from high latitudes of Antarctica and Australia. An aurora happens to be a natural light seen in the sky in regions of high latitude. It is caused because of the collision of magnetospheric charged particle and solar winds with atmosphere. Aurora comprises of different colours like red, green, blue, yellow and pink. An aurora usually appears either as curtains or as diffused glow which generally spreads in the westeast direction. Sometimes, they appear as quiet arcs whereas at others they keep evolving and changing constantly.
