Aurora borealis swirls

One of the prettiest sights to see has to be the aurora borealis with its swirls of green, blue, yellow, or pink shimmering and pulsating across the night sky. Caused by a reaction of ionized particles in the atmosphere near the Earth's poles, the Northern Lights are typically visible in northern latitudes from late autumn to early spring.
