Gollum The Lord of the Rings Trilogy

The total sum of millions of Orcs, Saruman and Sauron dont add up to the power and villainy of the grimy little creature forever in search of his precious. At the very heart of the character is a tortured soul, manipulated by the power of the ring and credit to Andy Serkis for creating sympathy in a character that could so easily be one toned. Instead, Gollum is a tragic villain who continually has internal battles as he falls deeper and deeper under the spell of the ring. The epic saga of Lord of the Rings would not have been as effective if Gollum had been botched and credit in abundance has to go to Peter Jackson and Andy Serkis for creating a truly iconic movie villain.
