21. Paddle Use

Strike any part f an ppnents bdy with yur paddle.
Thrw the paddle.
Wind up and swing at the ball with the paddle.
Retrieve a flating ball with yur paddle if smene is als reaching fr it with their hands.
Blck within arms reach f a player wh has the ball (s that their hand culd strike yur paddle
when thrwing).
Push r brace ff f anther players bat with yur paddle r hands (even t stp yurself frm
flipping, althugh we are mre casual abut this rule fr new players).
In general use the paddle in such a way that yu might hit smene with it, s when in dubt play
the ball with yur hands.
22. Hand Tackling
You can hand tackle (push over) a player who is in possession of the ball.
You hand tackle by pushing the other person with your open hand on the side, back, or upper arm.
It is illegal to:
o Hand tackle someone who doesnt have possession of the ball.
o Push someone into another boat, the side of the pool, or another obstruction.
o Pull someone towards you.
o Fend off someone trying to hand tackle you by pushing back with your hand, arm, or elbow.
o Grab an opponents body, gear, or boat to stop them from moving.
o Prevent someone from rolling or otherwise righting themselves after a flip.
o Tackle a player who has declared themselves No Tackle.
o Tackle a player if you are a No Tackle player.
23. Kayak tackling
You can kayak tackle an opposing player by bumping or pushing their boat with your boat.
You may kayak tackle:
o Any opposing player who has the ball.
o An opposing player within the defensive zone when you are set up on defense, whether or not they
have the ball.
It is illegal to:
o Hit another players body or cockpit with your boat.
o Hit another players boat dead on at a 90 degree angle.
o Tackle a player who has declared themselves No Tackle.
o Tackle a player if you are a No Tackle player.
24. Goalies
The goalie sits in the front of the goal and blocks shots with his or her paddle.
It is an illegal goalie foul to:
o Push or touch the opposing goalie.
o Push another player (of either team) into the opposing goalie.
Try to avoid touching your own goalie too, since it will knock them out of position.
25. Goal Restarts
After a goal is scored, the team that did not score brings the ball to the center line of the pool and the
play restarts from there
Every player must be on his or her own side of the pool when the play restarts.
26. Out of Bounds
If you are the last person to touch the ball (with your hand, paddle, or boat) before it goes out of
bounds, the other team gets the ball.
The other team takes the ball from the boundary line nearest where it went out.
27. Presenting the Ball
When restarting the ball after a foul, out of bounds, or other break in play, you must signal the restart
of play by holding the ball at arms length above you head.
28. Substitutions
There may only be 10 players (5 on each team) in the pool, no exceptions.
The extra players may wait behind the goal line of the goal they are defending.
One of the players in the pool can sub out and one of the waiting players may sub in at any time
during the game.
When subbing in, you must wait until the entire boat of the player subbing out has exited the pool.
