21. Muynak
Muynak was once a busy port city on the Aral Sea. The Soviet Union drained the Aral Sea for irrigation purposes, destroying Muynak and leaving the remants of a busy port sit in a desert wasteland.
22. Centralia
This was one a busy mining town, until the coal veins under the city caught fire. This dangerous fire has been burning since 1962. The town was bandoned, except for approximately 10 people who still live there. The creepy town was the visual inspiration for the horror movie Silent Hill.
23. Island of the Dolls
This place is an uninhabited island in Xochimilco, Mexico. According to legend, a girl died in the canals surrounding the island, after which dolls began to wash ashore constantly. The islands only inhabitant and caretaker then began to hang the dolls that would wash ashore in memory of the little girl.
24. Cincinnatis Abandoned Subway
There were plans to build a subway system in Cincinnati in the early 1900s. The city ran out of funding, but the tunnels that were constructed are still open beneath the city, a maze that is left to be explored.
25. Jatinga
Jatinga is a relatively normal town, but its plagued by massive bird suicides that happen every September ? October. The en masse bird deaths occur at the end of the monsoon months, when on dark, foggy nights the bird populations are attracted to the lights of villages and are then killed by the villagers. In modern times, conservation groups have made an effort to decrease the amount of bird deaths during this season.

Over half of the population of Togo practices indigenous beliefs, requiring religious paraphernalia you would not find in any normal market. Shrunken heads, skulls, flesh and more can be found in a fetish market like this.

Something strange is going on at Area 51 or is it? This military based is about 80 miles northwest of Las Vegas. Its claim to fame is that its supposedly the top-secret site where alien bodies and technology were taken after a UFO crash-landing in Roswell, New Mexico in 1947. While its true the military base is secretive (most military bases are), many of the conspiracy claims surrounding Area 51 have been thoroughly debunked.

What secrets lurk in the triangle of ocean between Floridas southern tip, Bermuda and San Juan, Puerto Rico? The Bermuda triangle is said to gobble up ships and airplanes without a trace. Slight problem with the legend: Most of the mysterious disappearances cited by believers werent mysterious at all, but occurred during storms or didnt even sink within the triangles borders.

Can it be one of the weirdest places on Earth if no one knows where it is and its actually just a legend? Lets go with yes after all, many people are convinced that there really was a peaceful utopia that sunk beneath the sea in time immemorial, and theyve tried to pinpoint it in spots all over the world. Even Google Earth once fed the legend with a data glitch that created a gridlike pattern on the ocean floor. Keen-eyed observers speculated that it might be the lost streets of Atlantis.
30. Angkor Wat
Among the largest religious monuments ever created, Angkor Wat stands out for its gorgeous towers and intricate artwork. The temple city, which sits in what is now Cambodia, was built between A.D. 1113 and 1150. Its towers are meant to elicit the mythological Hindu mountain Mount Meru, and the temple was originally built in honor of the Hindu god Vishnu. Several hundred years later, Angkor Wat was transformed into a Buddhist site.
