1. Renault XBA 800cc Small Hatchback
Renault India will launch multiple all new products in the next 18 months, including a compact MPV, an entry level hatchback, and a sub compact SUV. While the Lodgy will arrive here by early FY15, the small hatchback will come in the second half of 2015. For your information, the Nissan Renault alliance is currently working on a new 800cc, 3 cylinder petrol engine to power their upcoming small cars. The entry level hatchback, code named XBA, will be based on the CMF A platform which too has been jointly developed by Renault and Nissan. Expected to be highly fuel efficient, Renaults small hatch will rival Maruti Suzuki Alto 800, Hyundai Eon and Datsun Go.

2. Datsun Redi GO Inspired Hatchback
Though Nissans low cost car brand, Datsun, already has a budget hatchback, called the GO, the company is now working on an even cheaper hatchback to take on the Maruti Alto 800. The redi GO inspired hatchback will be built upon the CMF A platform the one that will also underpin the Renault XBA small car. The engine will also be same as the one for the Renaults small car i.e. the 800cc, 3 cylinder petrol unit. Since the company currently doesnt have a small diesel engine, the small hatch might be launched with only petrol and LPG options.

3. Tata Nano Twist AMT
Showcased at the 2014 Delhi Auto Expo, the Nano AMT (automated manual transmission) will be the first product that the company will launch in this financial year. The vehicle is already on test in India, and will be developed at Tatas Sanand plant where the regular Nano is also manufactured. The Nano Twist AMT will feature the same 624cc MPFI naturally aspirated twin cylinder engine that powers the regular Nano, albeit with a 5 speed AMT. Besides AMT, this model will also feature new bumpers, fog lamps, and different head lamps. The cabin, however, is likely to remain unchanged.

4. Tata Kite Hatchback
Tata Motors is working on a new hatchback, codenamed Kite, to replace the ageing Indica eV2. Though there is no clarity on what engine options the small hatch will come equipped with, Tata Motors has the option to utilise the 1.2 litre petrol and the 1.4 litre diesel units. Both these engine also power the Indica. Since the company has already started testing the vehicle in India, expect it to be rolled out sometime in the first half of 2015.

5. Tata Pelican 800
Besides the Kite siblings a hatchback and sub compact sedan the homegrown automaker is working on yet another affordable hatchback, codenamed Pelican, to take on the likes of Maruti Alto K10, Hyundai Eon, and others in the segment. Though the Pelican will be based on the Nano, it will be a slightly more up market product with a bigger engine. The company will position it between the Nano and the Kite hatchback. If reports are to be believed, the company is working on a 1000cc petrol engine and a 800cc diesel motor that might power several entry level Tata cars, including the Pelican.

6. Honda Jazz
To keep the momentum going this year,?Honda?will bring back the Jazz nameplate. The hatchback will not only get an all new design, but also a diesel engine, which it lacked the last time it was in the market. It suffices to say that the new Honda Jazz looks quite promising.

The new generation of the Jazz will, hopefully, get the same engines as the ones that power the Amaze i.e. the 1.2 litre i VTEC petrol and the 1.5 litre i DTEC diesel. Moreover, it may also get an even more powerful version with the 1.5 litre i VTEC engine though some time later.

Honda has already started its production in India, and we expect it to be launched by the mid of the current calendar year.

7. Maruti Suzuki YRA
Suzuki unveiled iK 2 aka YRA premium hatchback at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show it gets a new 1.0 litre, direct injection turbocharged petrol engine that is based on the Suzukis 1.0 litre K series engine that also powers the Alto and the WagonR.The company claims to have improved the motors fuel efficiency by reducing engine displacement. Its performance also gets a hike, thanks to a turbocharger. The diesel engine, on the other hand, could be the same 1.3 litre Multijet unit that also powers the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz.

8. Ford Figo
In terms of design, the new Figo hatchback will get a honeycomb grille, the signature Ford front end, and head lights with different mirror element, though the overall design remains unchanged from the concept. Ford has already launched the hatchback in Brazil, and will bring it to India this year. As far the Ford Figos engine options are concerned, it might continue to be powered by the existing engine options, i.e. the 1.4 litre diesel and both, the 1.2 litre and 1.5 litre petrol in India.

9. Fiat 500 Abarth
500 Abarth, Fiats performance oriented hatchback will take on the likes of BMW 1 Series, Mercedes Benz A Class, and Volvo V40 Cross Country among others upon its arrival in the country. It will be powered by a 1.4 litre MultiAir turbocharged petrol unit that develops a whooping 135bhp. Furthermore, Fiat could also bring in the high end Essess model that gets a motor with a power output of 161bhp.In terms of features, the 500 Abarth will get projector head lamps, dual exhaust system, KONI front shock absorbers, anti lock braking system (ABS), electronic brake force distribution (EBD), electronic stability control (ESC) and 7 airbags.

10. Tata Bolt Sport
Tata Motors showcased this performance oriented version of the Bolt hatchback at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show. The home grown automakers first hot hatch, the Bolt Sport will be propelled by the same 1.2 litre turbocharged petrol motor that also powers the Zest and the regular Bolt. However, the engine is tuned for better performance; it is capable of a maximum power output of 120bhp and a peak torque of 170Nm. It will come paired to a 5 speed manual gearbox that sends power to the front wheels of the car. This version will also get newly designed 17 inch alloy wheels.

The list safety provisions on the Tata Bolt Sport will include anti lock braking system (ABS), corner stability control, and dual airbags among other relevant features.
