New Cars,New Cars styles Upcoming Cars in India, Upcoming Vehicles all the dope on the cars.
1. Tata Bolt
When to expect:December 2014

Estimated Price:4.20 6.60 lakhs

The Tata Bolt is the Pune based automaker s new hatchback for the Indian market. Based on their X1 platform which underpins the Indica Vista hatchback, the Bolt features an all too familiar silhouette but is a whole new animal in terms of features and overall design philosophy. It was unveiled at the 2014 Indian Auto Expo and is expected to be launched later this month. It is the second new vehicle from Tata Motors after the Zest compact sedan and is expected to be joined by another compact sedan as well as a crossover both of which will make their debut in 2015.

This next generation global car from Tata Motors showcases the new DNA of the company and boasts of newness in terms of design (DesigNext), drivablilty (DriveNext) and connectivity (ConnectNext). The company says that the name Bolt itself signifies speed and represents, according to the company, a winner s attitude. At the front it gets an aggressive fascia, new grille and sleek headlights that stretch from the middle of the bonnet to the grille. This fascia is very similar to that of the Zest CS and thanks to the large amounts of chrome looks quite premium. On the sides, the window lines swoop down in a curve towards the rear hatch which now seems to be devoid of the Christmas tree lamps. However, what the rear does get are rounded edges and certain styling cues from slightly more premium cars. The Zest looks a little odd due to the compact sedan philosophy but the Bolt looks like a much more complete product.

Interior features a white and black combination interior setup with seemingly premium plastics as well as gauges mounted behind the steering and a touch screen created by Harmann for the Tata Bolt and Zest CS. However, on the lower spec variants we expect that Tata will offer beige interior. The overall design and feature list is expected to be dead similar to that of the Zest compact sedan. It seems that the variant nomenclature too will remain the same which means there will be eight variants excluding an automatic option which is not scheduled to be launched right now.

n terms of engines, Tata will offer this hatchback with the 1.2 litre Revotron engine which is petrol powered and produces 84bhp/140Nm. The diesel engine on the other hand is the 1.3 litre Quadrajet diesel. The only transmission options expected to be offered at the time of the launch is a five speed manual. The diesel AMT is expected to arrive at a later date and will be a first in segment.

We expect that Tata will price the Bolt in the range of Rs 4.20 lakh to Rs 6.60 lakh and it will have four petrol and three diesel variants. When launched it will compete with the Hyundai Grand i10, Maruti Suzuki Swift, Chevrolet Sail and the Ford Figo.
2. Datsun Go Plus
When to expect:February 2015

Estimated Price:5.70 7.50 lakhs

In February, the Datsun brand was born again when parent company Nissan launched the Go hatchback at a function in Delhi. It was the first car in the line up as well as the first car in what the Japanese automaker called locally designed cars for local markets . At the 2013 Indonesia International Motor Show, Datsun unveiled the second car in the line up; the Go+ MPV, designed to cater to MPV crazy Indonesia but also with the intention that it will be available in Datsun s other markets too.

The Datsun Go+ looks like a stretched version of the Go hatchback and shares many of its design cues including the front fascia and the overall shape. It is 1.6 meters wide, 1.4 meters high and more importantly 3.95 (wheelbase of 2450mm) meters long qualifying it for the concessions available under the sub four metre rule when it is launched in India. The rear end too is the same as the Go hatchback but looks proportionately larger due to this being a bigger vehicle. In a bid to keep costs down and follow what is now an accepted practice among manufacturers to maintain economies of scale, the Datsun Go+ gets exactly the same interior features as the Go hatchback. Everything is exactly the same including the accessories like the mobile phone charging dock.

However, since this an MPV, we expect that on higher spec variants Datsun will offer features like AC vents for the second row and foldable third row seats to increase boot space and unlike the industry trend of captain seats in the second row on the highest spec variant, the Datsun Go+ will continue to have split bench design. From the looks of the pictures, the third row does not get openable windows and passengers will be sitting higher up so as to get breeze from the second row windows and front AC vents.

The engine and underpinnings are the same as the Go hatchback. It makes use of the 1.2 litre three cylinder petrol engine that produces 67bhp and 104Nm of torque. However since this is the larger vehicle, we expect that Nissan may increase the power. Power is transmitted to the front wheels via a five speed manual gearbox. In India, we expect that they will also offer the Go+ with the 1.5 litre diesel engine. In Indonesia, the Go+ will be priced below 100million Rupiah (Rs 5.52 lakh). However in India, we expect that Datsun will price the Go+ in the range of Rs 5.7 lakh to Rs 7.5 lakh for the top spec diesel engined variant. It is expected that they will display the car at the 2014 Indian Auto Expo and launch it a few months after the Indonesia market gets it, the latter being scheduled for the first part of next year.
3. Mercedes Benz CLA
When to expect:January 2015

Estimated Price:25 30 lakhs

Mercedes Benz is no longer the highest selling luxury car brand in the country. In fact Merc is not even incontention;the battle for the top is between BMW and Audi. Even the global numbers reveal a similar story the three pointed star is lagging behind. Their plan is to get back to the top in India by 2016 and their new range based on MFA (Modular Front wheel Architecture) will spearhead the challenge in this all German battle.Mercedes Benz are perceived as old man s cars due to their conservative styling. Also the BMW and Audi are relatively new and carry a bit more of novelty value. But this has not hurt Merc as much as the fact that they don t have an entry level sedan or crossover, like the BMW X1 and the Audi Q3. This is changing with the new MFA platform; the B Class is the first front wheel drive Mercedes car in India and soon we will have another hatchback, entry level sedan and a compact crossover based on the same architecture.

The new front wheel drive sedan christened as the CLA will be launched in India later this year. The 2014 CLA unveiled at the 2013 Detroit Motor Show is Mercs new entry level sedan that will be positioned below the C Class. It is basically a sedan version of the A Class, which will also be launched here in the next few months. The CLA shares many of its design cues with the A Class like the floating dots grille, massively sculpted air intakes and chin spoiler that sits rather prominently in the front. Mercedes has really been working hard on giving the car clean sculpted lines and this is very evident on the side and in the back especially the rear bumper and the rather sharp looking boot lid. The company also said that the CLA has a drag coefficient of 0.23 that is the lowest among any series production vehicle.

The interiors of the CLA are similar to that of the A Class hatchback. The company has not revealed the features list as yet, the same will be announced at the Geneva Motor Show in March, where the car will make its first public appearance. The CLA will be offered with three petrol engine options producing 122bhp (CLA 180) 156bhp (CLA 200) and 211bhp (CLA 250)( in the pictures) and one diesel mill which produces 170bhp (CLA 220 CDI). Power will be transmitted to the wheels via a seven speed dual clutch gearbox and the (optional) 4matic four wheel drive system. Mercedes will also launch a performance version of the sedan called the CLA 45 AMG. Similar to the A45 AMG, this will also be 335bhp version that will be unveiled at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show.

Mercedes Benz will launch the CLA in India around September, just before the festive season. The sedan will be assembled in India at their Chakan facility and the prices for the petrol version should start around Rs 25 lakh.
4. Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire Facelift
When to expect:December 2014

Estimated Price:4.90 7.50 lakhs

India s hottest hatchback the Maruti Suzuki Swift has been on sale in its current avatar since August 2011, while its compact sedan sibling came into the market in February 2012. Now both are up for a facelift. The former got a host of cosmetic updates in Europe and Japan last year and will soon make its way to India by the end of this year. It will be joined by a facelifted Dzire a short while after the hatchback. Suzuki has stuck with the formula of continuity and has not changed anything in terms of overall design but has added chrome to up the premium factor of the car.

Exterior
The Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire in terms of external design will remain the same as before and now gets silver detailing on the lower front bumper but is likely to be offered only on the ZDI and ZXI variants. There is also added chrome on the grille and the bumper. Apart from that, Suzuki is also offering a high mounted LED stoplight. However, for the Indian market, we expect that this will only be offered with the VXi, VDi and the ZXi and ZDi variant.

Interior
The interior of the Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire facelift will now feature cruise control, keyless entry and a button start. Since the top spec version of the car already gets features like climate control, faux leather seats and a music system with Bluetooth, AUX and iPod compatibility we expect that they will continue even in the facelifted models too. However, we expect that the India spec car may now get rear AC vents and maybe electric seat adjustment in a bid to update the feature list and keep it on par with the competitors.

Engines and gearbox
The facelifted Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire is expected to continue with the 1.2 litre petrol mill and the 1.3 litre Multijet diesel engine. The former produces 85bhp/114Nm while the latter does 74bhp/190Nm. The Dzire will continue to be offered with the four speed AT which the current model uses.

Price and competition
The facelifted Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire is expected to be priced in the range of Rs 4.90 lakh to Rs 7.50 lakh when it is launched later this year. It competes with the Tata Indigo eCS, Hyundai Xcent, VW Vento, Skoda Rapid and the production version of the Ford Figo sedan in the B+ compact sedan segment.
5. BMW i8
When to expect:December 2014

Estimated Price:1.55 2.20 crores

BMW stunned the world in early 2011 when it announced the i division for hybrid cars and electric vehicles. The first car to come out of this development was the i3 pure electric car and then the i8 hybrid. During the 2014 Auto Expo, BMW under the auspices of master blaster Sachin Tendulkar unveiled the i8 plug in hybrid for the Indian market and announced that the car would be launched for India by the end of the year.

Exterior
The external design of the BMW i8 harks back to that of the 8 Series range of cars that were sold in the late 1980s and early 1990s. This design is characterised by low slung body style, large hood and stubby back, something that the i8 has managed to embody and yet, still look modern as possible. The front is dominated by a colourful and rather flat twin kidney grille, it gets an oblong shaped full LED headlights and a strange looking bumper that has aerodynamically enhanced wings just below the headlamps. The wind shield is raked sharply and further adds to the low look of the car.The side profile is low and characterised by the scissor doors which opens upwards and out providing the i8 with true sportscar credentials. It gets its own special design for the alloy wheels as well as various aerodynamic creases and lines for improved efficiency and to add to the futuristic appearance. The futuristic appearance of the i8 comes alive at the rear end where the prominent features include a futuristic interpretation of BMW s current tail lamp design, bits of body work that act as spoilers. The rear bumper appears to be wider towards the edges in a bid to maintain an even design over the flared wheel arches. While being purposeful, it also adds to the cars muscled appearance.

Interior
vThe i8 gets the standard BMW interiors with a few space age touches like the digital gauges and what appears to be a 10 inch display to interact with the iDrive system. The 2 seater car has been trimmed out in a combination of leather, chrome plastics for the centre console and high quality plastics for the rest of the cabin. For those who don t drive in Europe and America, the cabin may look a little plain and obviously very similar to that of the other BMWs and this is down to the fact that customers in Europe and America place a larger emphasis on vehicle performance and feature more than eye catching design for the interiors. There is also the fact that BMW s cabin design is actually pretty good and does not really look out of place in such a car.

Engine
This is where the i8 comes alive. It is powered by a 1.5 litre three cylinder twin scroll turbo engine that produces 231bhp and 320Nm of torque and power is sent to the rear wheels via a six speed AT. The front wheels are connected to an electric motor via a two stage AT box. This motor produces the equivalent of 131bhp and is mated to a 5kWh lithium ion battery. This combination takes the total output to 362bhp and 570Nm of torque allowing the i8 to do 0 100kmph in 4.4 seconds. This setup also gives the i8 a very impressive 39.9kmpl (under European test conditions).

Price
We expect that BMW will price the i8 in the range of Rs 1.5 crore to Rs 2.2 crore when it is launched in India. There is no competition for such a vehicle in the Indian market and BMW will be the first one to launch such a car.
6. Renault Lodgy
When to expect: March 2015

Estimated Price: 10 15 lakhs

Renault is on a roll in the Indian market. It seems to have made its presence felt in almost every segment in the market with at least one vehicle and now wants to enter the MPV market. The French automaker s representative will be the Lodgy, a product of its Romanian subsidiary Dacia, the same people who created the Duster. The Lodgy seems to get tick marks on all the required boxes to make it proper MPV petrol and diesel mills, seven seat configuration and oodles of space all around.

The Romanian subsidiary of Renault says that the name has been derived from the English word Lodge , implying that the car can accommodate a family and its luggage comfortably. Just like its name, the looks of this MUV are also slightly unconventional. The MUV certainly looks and feels premium and it will compete directly with the Toyota Innova in India.
The overall design of the Lodgy is clean and simplistic; just like the Duster it has ample chrome on the front. The rear design is arguable, but that can be ignored looking at the Renault badge and overall utility of the vehicle. The interiors provide ample space to seat a large family. In fact the third row has 144mm legroom and 866mm headroom, so even adults can comfortably manage in the last row.

The Indian Lodgy will share components with the Renault Duster, so expect similar beige interiors. Hopefully Renault will improve the fitment quality before the next launch. Renault may offer only the diesel engine in India it will be the same 1.5 litre K9K diesel engine that powers the Fluence and the top spec Duster diesel developing 110PS and 240Nm of torque.

The Lodgy prices will be close to that of the Toyota Innova, with a premium over Mahindra Xylo and Nissan Evalia. There is no confirmation from Renault regarding India launch, but the car is expected here by mid 2015.
7. Tata Nano AMT
When to expect:March 2015

Estimated Price:3 3.25 lakhs

Tata Motors has already updated the Nano with power steering and an upmarket interior to help improve the small car s performance in the entry level segment. Now what else can be expected soon besides the long rumoured diesel version? A Nano with a clever automatic gearbox? Yes, indeed.
Shown first at the 2014 Auto Expo, the upcoming Nano AMT has been caught on test on multiple occasions, suggesting that the official launch could be ahead of what s being anticipated thus far.

Exterior
External shots from the existing set of spy images reveal the smiley faced facia of the Nano. This is essentially the new design language from Tata Motors for the A segment hatchback which, by the look of it, will keep the overall proportions but include a new fascia and rear end.
The Nano AMT will also feature a revised set of headlights although the rear set of lights and the chrome treatment from the existing model will be carried over to this new semi automatic version.

Interior
Like the exterior, the majority of the interior will remain the same but with obvious enhancements that will bring the model up to date with the competition. The cabin will continue to feature the centrally mounted instrument binnacle and the circular air vents. Of course, the biggest addition will be the chrome finished gear stick for the AMT gearbox which will replace the traditional four speeder. The Nano is known for being quite spacious despite its compact footprint and this AMT version will be no different. The car can seat up to five occupants in decent comfort.

Engine and Gearbox
There are chances that the Nano AMT might be powered by the new 1 litre, three cylinder petrol engine, but it could be the 624cc engine found in the current model that is more likely to be used. Expect the Nano AMT to deliver marginally lesser or similar efficiency to that of the manual gearbox version which returns 25.35 kmpl to a litre.

The AMT gearbox is likely to be the same F Tronic unit currently seen in the new Zest compact sedan. The clever new gearbox will eventually be available to a range of models from Tata Motors line up.

Price and competition
With the Nano AMT, Tata Motors is looking to further explore the entry level small car segment. An affordable, easy to drive small car is the ideal way to get round the ever growing traffic menace, after all.
The upcoming Nano AMT will compete with other small cars featuring a similar gearbox technology. While Maruti Suzuki s Celerio is the only hatchback currently available with the AMT technology, it will soon be joined by the company s other small car the new Alto K10. The latter will pose a bigger threat to the upcoming Nano AMT.
8. Tata Safari Storme Facelift
When to expect:May 2015

Estimated Price:10 14 lakhs

The Tata Safari Storme was introduced in 2012 and is due for a facelift soon. The test mules of the revised car have been spotted testing several times in our country. The revamped version is expected to get a few changes to the exterior and interior as well and might be launched in early 2015.

Exterior
The revised iteration of the Storme will get some cosmetic changes setting it apart from the previous model. While the silhouette of the car will remain the same, the other changes include a new honeycomb mesh grille and a redesigned bumper at the front. The car might get restyled headlamps and redesigned fog lamps. At the back, the bumper might get a collapsible step while the inclusion of LED tail lamps will be a good change and in line with the updates that most facelifted cars receive.
Interior
The cabin is where most of the upgrades are expected to be seen. One of the most speculated changes to interior includes front facing captain seats in the third row instead of the present, side facing seats. The upholstery might be revised and a redesigned central console with a neatly integrated music system might be thrown in along with some more new features.

Engine
The current models of the Tata Safari Storme are powered by the 2.2 litre VariCOR diesel engine that produces 140bhp of power. The power output of this mill might be increased to 150bhp of power and 320Nm of torque like the Tata Aria. The motor will continue to be mated to the existing five speed manual transmission. Tata might tweak the chassis to improve the ride and handling characteristics of the upcoming Storme.

Competition
The refreshed Safari Storme is expected to be priced in the range of Rs 10 lakh to Rs 14 lakh and will rival the refreshed Mahindra Scorpio.
9. Maruti Suzuki Ertiga Facelift
When to expect:February 2015

Estimated Price:5.82 8.60 lakhs

Maruti Suzuki seems to have felt the heat from the latest upcoming compact SUVs in India, especially its prime rival, the Honda Mobilio. The manufacturer will introduce the facelifted model of the Ertiga soon. The Ertiga has been ruling the compact MPV segment since a long time now and the refreshed car is expected to be launched in early 2015.

Exterior
The cosmetic changes will come in the form of mild revisions to the exterior that will give it a fresh look setting it apart from the current avatar. From the test mules spotted it can be gauged that the most evident change is the new two slat grille in place of the current four slat one. This might get embellished in chrome to make the car look fresh in the face of the rivals. The front air intakes might also get modified with revisions to the bumper as well. Coming to the sides, the silhouette will remain the same but there will be an addition of electronically foldable OVRMs. Though, these might make it only to Vdi/Vxi and Zdi/Zxi trim.

Interior
We don t think the company might make many changes to the interior and the cabin is expected to retain the same layout and upholstery from the current vehicle. Nevertheless, considering the latest push button start feature in the latest Ciaz sedan and facelifted Swift hatchback, we believe that it would be good to see this feature on the Ertiga as well. Obviously only the top end variants of the car will get it but a + variant might be brought in that will have a feature list very similar to that of the new Ciaz.

Engine and gearbox
Coming to the powertrain, we dont expect any changes there and the facelifted Ertiga is expected to continue to employ the 1.4 litre petrol engine and the 1.3 litre Multijet diesel engine. While the former churns out 94bhp of power and 130Nm of torque, the latter produces 89bhp of power and 200Nm of torque. Both engines are mated to a five speed manual gearbox. The CNG variant will also be continued to be offered.

Price and Competition
The 2015 model of the Ertiga might be priced in the range of Rs 5.82 lakh to Rs 8.6 lakh, slightly expensive than the current model. With the added features the refreshed vehicle will go up against the Honda Mobilio, Chevrolet Enjoy and the Nissan Evalia.
10. Hyundai Elite i20 Crossover
When to expect:April 2015

Estimated Price:6 11 lakhs

Hyundai has tasted quite a bit of success with the launch of the Elite i20 in India and is now working on a crossover based on this hatchback. The test mules of this vehicle have been spotted testing several times. Amidst the horde of compact crossovers and SUVs coming to India in 2015, Hyundai will also launch this crossover to increase their market share and improve the domestic volumes.

Exterior
The crossover will be based on the current Elite i20 which is the second generation version of the i20. It will share the same platform but get additional features making it look meatier and muscular in appearance. The wide but compact air intake with mesh design, the revised grille in the front bumper with restyled fog lamps and sweptback head lights are expected to be carried over to the new car. The crossover will also stay in line with the new fluidic design seen on all new Hyundai cars. The company will give the car a body cladding while bringing in a new design for the alloy wheels and roof rails. The newly designed tail lamps might also be carried over with the addition of the tail gate mounted spare wheel at the back of the car.

Interior
The cabin of the crossover is expected to be similar to the one in the Elite i20. Hyundai might borrow the new instrument panel with gear shift indicator and three spoke steering wheel with integrated audio and Bluetooth controls from the hatchback. The layout is expected to be the same, but the company might give the interior a sporty look. Like the feature rich i20 hatchback, the crossover will also be packed with many features like height adjustable driver s seat, cooled glove box, 2 Din audio system with 1 GB internal memory, climate control system, cruise control, a second power outlet, reverse parking assist, clutch lock etc.

Engine and Gearbox

The engine options for the hatchback based crossover are expected to be the same petrol and diesel mills from the Elite i20. The petrol variant might be powered by the four cylinder 1.2 litre Kappa motor that produces 83bhp of power and 113Nm of torque and comes mated to a five speed manual gearbox. The diesel version might employ the 1.4 litre CRDI motor that churns out 89bhp of power and 219Nm of torque. This mill comes paired to a six speed manual gearbox.

Price and competition
The Elite i20 based crossovers entry level variant might be priced Rs 60,000 to Rs 90,000 more than the base version of hatchback. The top end variant might demand about Rs 1.5 lakh more than the high end Elite i20, putting the car in a price bracket of Rs 6 lakh to Rs 11 lakh. Its prime rival will be the upcoming Maruti Suzuki SX4 S Cross, while it will also go up against the Toyota Etios Cross, Volkswagen Cross Polo and the Fiat Avventura.
