The 87 storey building, which was completed in 1999, stands at 420.5m.The Jin Mao Tower is an 88 storey landmark skyscraper in the Lujiazui area of the Pudong district of Shanghai, Peoples Republic of China. It contains offices and the Grand Hyatt Shanghai hotel. Until 2007 it was the tallest building in the PRC, the fifth tallest in the world by roof height and the seventh tallest by pinnacle height. Along with the Oriental Pearl Tower, it is part of the Pudong skyline. Its height was surpassed on September 14, 2007 by the Shanghai World Financial Center which is next to the building. The Shanghai Tower, a 128 story building located next to these two buildings and now under construction, will be even taller.

The building, named after billionaire real estate developer Donald Trump, was designed by architect Adrian Smith of Skidmore, Owings and Merrill. Bovis Lend Lease built the 98 story structure, which reached a height of 1,389 feet (423 m) including its spire, its roof topping out at 1,170 feet (360 m). It is adjacent to the main branch of the Chicago River, with a view of the entry to Lake Michigan beyond a series of bridges over the river. The building received publicity when the winner of the first season of The Apprentice reality television show, Bill Rancic, chose to manage the construction of the tower over managing a new Trump National Golf Course and resort in Los Angeles, California.

Trump announced in 2001 that the skyscraper would become the tallest building in the world, but after the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, he scaled back the buildings plans, and its design underwent several revisions. When topped out in 2009, it became the second tallest building in the Western Hemisphere, after another Chicago building, the Willis Tower (formerly known as the Sears Tower). Trump Tower Chicago surpassed the citys John Hancock Center as the building with the highest residence (apartment or condo) in the world, and held this title until the completion of the Burj Khalifa. As of 24 November 2012 it is the twelfth tallest building in the world.

The building is used as a conference centre, hotel and office building. Floors 1 through 66 are used as offices, floors 67 and 68 are for mechanical equipment, floors 69 to 98 have a Four Seasons Hotel with the lobby being on the 70th floor, and floors 99 and 100 are used as an observation deck.

It is located in Shenzhens Luohu District east of Lizhi Park, approximately one kilometer north of the border between mainland China and Hong Kong. The area is often described as the financial district of Shenzhen. The mixed use building rises to 441.8 metres (1,449 ft) and contains 100 floors for office space and a hotel. Out of those 100 floors, 68 are used for 173,000 square metres (1,862,157 sq ft) of Class A office space, 22 stories for a 35,000 square metres (376,737 sq ft) six star business hotel and the top four floors of the skyscraper hold a garden and several restaurants. Adjacent to KK100 is the KK Mall, which opened its doors November 26, 2010, and contains luxury brand stores, restaurants and a supermarket. The KK Mall also hosts Shenzhens first IMAX cinema.

It is the second highest hotel in the world after The Ritz Carlton, Hong Kong, which occupies floors 102 to 118 of the International Commerce Centre.
