This park was constructed with cooperation from several agencies, merchants and people who realized that green areas can enhance and improve urban environment. In commemoration of this cooperation, a clock tower, a flower clock and sculptures from 6 Asian countries have been created and decorated in this park. At present, Chatuchak Park is a heaven for health conscious people living in the northern side of Bangkok. The park users may walk or jog along the shady tracks line with vegetation or appreciate with the beauty of nature in Thai Literature Garden and Herb Garden. They may also stop to view lovely fish at the Fish Watching Bridges over the pond or row a boat in a pond located in the middle of the park. In addition, they can choose to exercise at any fitness stations provided in Health Plaza, built in commemoration of the auspicious on occasion of the Crown Princess 3rd Cycle Birthday.Located next to the Chatuchak MARKET, this large park has public tennis courts and soccer fields.
This respite from MARKET mayhem is branded a Learning Park, with sculptures and playgrounds. The small Rail Hall of Fame houses old locomotives and various vehicles, including London taxis and World War II Japanese patrol cars. Adjacent Suan Rotfai (Railway Park, 0 2537 9221), the old railway golf course, offers bike hire, a good pool, the Butterfly Garden and Insectorium (0 2272 4359 60), scale models of Bangkok landmarks and a Traffic Town where kids can test for a Junior Driving Licence. In more contiguous green space, Queen Sirikit Park hosts the Children Discovery Museum and a botanical garden.
