COLDEST OYMYAKON RUSSIA

Named after the Oymyakon River this rural district in the Republic of Sakha is believed to be the coldest permanently inhabited spot in the world. The lowest recorded temperature was 67.7 degrees Celsius (90 degrees Fahrenheit) on Feb. 6 1933. The average winter temperature stays below 50 degrees Celsius (122 degrees Fahrenheit).
