Beauty Skin Care Tips
71. WHIP UP A TONER
Heres a recipe for a quick toner with stuff that you may already have in your fridge: Mash one ripe avocado and mix with a bit of lemon juice, then apply the mask to your face and neck. Rinse after five minutes, and appreciate the uplifting results!
72. DONT GIVE UP
Select products based on your skin goals, not fancy packaging, says dermatologist Dr. Kenneth R. Beer. Try them out for six to eight weeks before you decide whether or not they are right for you.
73. GO CRAZY FOR KIWI
Vitamin C stimulates collagen synthesis and protects against wrinkles, says Lisa Drayer, MA, RD, nutritionist. So stock up on kiwi, oranges, and grapefruit, which are all rich in the nutrient.
74. ADDITIONAL SPF
Remember that foundations and tinted moisturizers with SPF are makeup, says Dr. Jeanine Downie, a New Jerseybased dermatologist explains. Meaning that you apply it heavier to some areas and lighter to others. Use mattifying, oilfree sunscreen under your makeup for full sun protection.
75. SPOT CHECK
While its tempting to go with a fullcoverage formula, if youre having breakouts, stick with sheer foundation and spot cover, says Brett Freedman, owner/creator of VANITYMARK cosmetics. You dont want to load up the parts of your face that are clear with more coverage than they need. Put a dab of acnedrying cream over large or bulbous pimples to retexturize them and then cover up.
76. STOMP OUT SUGAR
Youre going to hate us for saying it, but avoid the sweet stuff whenever possible. Proteins in your skin react with excessive sugar, which causes your skin to age faster.
77. SKIN SMOOTHERS
Adding sweet potatoes and carrots to your diet will keep your skin incredibly smooth, says Lisa Drayer, MA, RD. They are rich in betacarotene and, when ingested, are converted into vitamin A in your body, which helps keep skin touchably soft.
78. MORNING TEA
To calm puffy eyes in the morning, Jodi Ranson, an esthetician at Utahs Golden Door Spa, recommends steeping two green tea bags and letting them sit in the fridge for at least 20 minutes before applying them. The caffeine helps increase microcirculation, and the coolness feels ohso refreshing.
79. MINERAL MAGIC
Zinc, copper and selenium are required for collagen production, a healthy immune system and keeping your skin elastic, says Paula Simpson, BASc, RNCP. Add more of these minerals to your diet with foods like chicken, lean beef, walnuts, chickpeas, and dried fruits.
