1. RED FORT NEW DELHI
It was built as a palace fort of Shahjahanabad in the 16th century, and is considered the zenith of Mughal creativity in architecture.
2. GROUP OF MONUMENTS AT PATTADAKAL KARNATAKA
Representative of eclectic art in the 7th and 8th centuries, the temples are a harmonious blend of Hindu and Jain styles.
3. TAJ MAHAL AGRA UTTAR PRADESH
Symbol of love, one of the first things people think about when talking about India and a jewel of Muslim art in India, the Taj Mahal was built in the 17th century.
4. RANI KI VAV PATAN GUJARAT
This 11th century stepwell is an excellent example of Indian architecture. Designed as an inverted temple, the symbolism in the carvings show the depth of knowledge and spirituality that existed at the time.
5. KHAJURAHO TEMPLES KHAJURAHO MADHYA PRADESH
Built during the Chandella dynasty, these temples are an amalgamation of Hindu and Jain styles of architecture. The Khajuraho temples are particularly famous across the world for the depiction of erotic figurines on its fa?ade.
6. GROUP OF MONUMENTS HAMPI KARNATAKA
The group of temples at Hampi are dated between 14th and 16th centuries and are spread over 24 hectares of land. Of special note here are the Ganesha (in pic) and Krishna temple complex.
7. DARJEELING HIMALAYAN RAILWAY DARJEELING WEST BENGAL
This Toy Train along with the Shimla Kalka line and the Nilgiri Mountain railway comprise the mountain railway network of India that has been enlisted as a world heritage. The Darjeeling Himalayan Railway was the first of the three that started operations in 1881.
8. GREAT LIVING CHOLA TEMPLES TAMIL NADU
This complex consists of three temples Brihadisvara Temple at Thanjavur, the Brihadisvara Temple at Gangaikondacholisvaram and the Airavatesvara Temple at Darasuram built between the 11th and 12th centuries.

About 40km from Bhopal, Sanchi has a collection of Buddhist monuments dating back to the 2nd and 1st centuries BC. It is said to be the oldest Buddhist sanctuary in existence.
