fantastic pieces of origami

Dinosaur
1. Can you imagine if this guy was to scale? What a big scary paper beast it would be. It could roam the land wreaking havoc all over the place inflicting horrible paper cuts with its razor sharp teeth. .....
Face
2. This one looks a little abstract doesn t it? And by abstract I mean totally confusing. This lady seems to have a few too many eyes. Which isn t a bad thing I guess. It s better than having less than two. .....
Japanese Coy
3. The Japanese Coy (or coi) is actually just a carp. Now look at this wonderful piece of art and tell me if you could have ever imagined a carp to be so beautiful. It also kind of looks like a lady s shoe. .....
Tree frog
4. Now things are starting to heat up a little bit. The artist here as really taken some time and put effort in to the shape of the animal it is attempting to represent. It almost looks like it could be real. .....
Polar Bear
5. Does this little fella look like he is making the normal facial expressions of a polar bear and roaring or maybe he has something stuck in his throat. It could be that he has swallowed a pencil. This is one polar bear that I would fight. .....
Black Beauty
6. Soon, we will have a whole animal kingdom and be able to build an ark. The only issue might be making sure that there is no water splashing up from the side of the ark. We really must keep these animals dry. .....
Wise Owl
7. Look at this guy. He is comfortably perched on his err perch. Why are owls wise? If I m being perfectly honest, this particular owl doesn t seem that wise to me. I don t know what it is that detracts from his knowledge. I mean, he is made from paper. .....
Gorilla
8. If you painted this guy just a little darker and stuck him in a forest somewhere in Africa, you would never know the difference between him and the real thing. Until there is a tropical downpour that is. .....
Mantis
9. Now this is really starting to get serious. Polar bears and gorillas is one thing but insects is a whole other world of insanely intricate paper folding. Now this one really does look like it is very close to the real thing. .....
Banana
10. You know the problem with making the shapes of food from paper is that, with me personally, I would always get hungry just by looking at it. Not so bad if it s banana but I m not very good at origami so I would probably start with easier packaged (and less healthy food). .....
One dollar bear
11. Weird isn t it? It s a bear made from American money. Not only that, but it is a bear than appears extremely comfortable on its hind legs for a prolonged period of time. It could be wearing a vest. SO why is it a bear again? .....
Sabre toothed tiger
12. This one is really cool. Like some of the others which involved animals which could possibly be hostile towards humans, for the most part we prefer the company of one of these guys to the real thing. .....
Iron Man
13. Tony Stark has got nothing on this guy. He looks totally ready for action doesn t he? One positive is that he could fall from a great height and be relatively unscathed. A negative is that he could fall from a great height and have the wind take him miles off track with little he could do about it. .....
Finch
14. This one is really cool because in one way it looks mostly like a scrunched up wit of paper but then in another it looks exactly like a bird. A finch to be precise. The smaller detail is what is so good about this. Look at the feet. .....
Octopus
15. This was always going to be on the cards wasn t it? Imagine sitting down to a plate of calamari and complaining to the waiter that it is not what you expected and a little tasteless. The waiter then explains that you ordered from the paper menu. .....
Superb Paper Origami Creations by Gonzalo Calvo
16. Madrid based origami enthusiast Gonzalo Garc a Calvo has a knack for fiddling with paper. He uses a variety of different techniques and papers to fold impressive animals, objects, and sci fi figures designed by a number of top origami artists. By day Gonzalo works professionally as a musician but easily gets lost in the challenge of bringing paper to life in his spare time. Seen here is a collection of my favorites, but you can scroll through Fli .....
Origami Enthusiast Designs a New Paper Crane Daily
17. At the beginning of 2015, origami enthusiast Cristian Marianciuc challenged himself to create a new origami crane daily for 365 days. Marianciuc says each piece is influenced by the day he s having, a sort of visual record of the moment set against the folded backdrop of a paper bird. The whimsical cranes are generally more decorative rather than exploring folding techniques, but it doesn t make them any less fun to look at. To see more, he posts .....
